BSIR ASM 2024

Information

BSIR Educational Grants exist to support BSIR Members to attend the BSIR Annual Scientific Meeting (ASM), where industry support and local study leave funding is unavailable.

Funding available
Educational Grants are available to provide the following funding to successful applicants:
- Registration Fee: if you require your registration to be reimbursed, your registration fee will be waived. In case your application is not successful, you will be notified of the outcome in time to still buy an Early Fee ticket for BSIR 2024.
- Travel and hotel costs: if you require travel and accommodation support, economy class travel and hotel options can be purchased, and will be reimbursed up to a maximum of £500.

In order for your expenses to be reimbursed, proof of attendance at the meeting will be required. Travel and accommodation expenses can be claimed using the BSIR Expenses Claim Form, with all receipts attached. All refunds will be made after the ASM has taken place in November.

Criteria

Eligibility criteria
To be able to apply for an Educational Grant, you must meet the following criteria:
- You have been a BSIR Member in good standing for at least 12 months
- You have a direct debit in place for BSIR Membership Fees
- You have applied and been rejected for local study leave budget (dated evidence required)

Notes

Prioritisation
As a charitable organisation, we have limited funds. If there are more applicants than funding available, applications will be prioritised to support those presenting at the meeting, those who have not received an educational grant previously, those who might have greater financial need, and then on a first-come, first-served basis.

Please consider before making your application that the BSIR Educational Grant Fund is finite and not every applicant will be successful. If you feel that you are in the financial position to self-fund to attend this meeting, then please do so. The costs of attending the meeting are tax-deductible and will lower your personal taxable income.

Grant applications for 2024 are now closed.
